2015 UCI Mountain Bike World Cup Windham,NY
American Aaron Gwin won the men’s elite downhill mountain bike race Saturday at the Windham Mountain UCI World Cup with a time of 2:38:10.
A raucous crowd cheered him through the finish with almost a four second lead over second place South African Greg Minnaar. Americans did fairly well in a sport that has a much larger following in Europe. The first six races took place in France, Czech Republic Germany, Great Britain, Austria, Switzerland, and Canada. The Windham race is the only UCI World Cup in the US. It’s the second to last race in the eight event series and one of four XCO and DHI combined events. In Saturday’s Downhill finals Junior Laurie Greenland took first, Jacob Dickson second, and Neil Stewart third. |
