Special Olympics Hudson Valley -Winter '17
Figure skaters, hockey players, downhill skiers, snowboarders, snowshoe racers, and cross country skiers competed in the Winter Special Olympics- Hudson Valley last weekend.
Events took place from Bodwin Park and McCann Ice Arena in Poughkeepsie to Stewart Air National Guard in Newburgh and Holiday Mountain in Sullivan County.
All told more than 900 athletes from around New York State took part in the events.
Athletes must be at least six years old and identified as meeting the Special Olympics' list of approved conditions by an agency or professional, to be eligible to compete. Additionally, they must have trained and competed locally for at least eight weeks qualify for participation at this level.
