Wounded Warrior Project and Adaptive Climbing at the Gunks with Mountain Skills Climbing Guides

Members of the Wounded Warrior Project(WWP) and Adaptive Climbing came out to the Gunks for their first day of outdoor climbing on Saturday May 30. The seven WWP and their families took part in a twice a week, five week gym to crag program at Brooklyn Boulders in preparation for their outdoor climbing.

New Fixed Rappel Anchors in Trapps

There are five new fixed rappel anchors in the Trapps. The tree anchors on the Mohonk Preserve climbs No Picnic, Double Chin, Jackie, Betty and Baby were removed and half inch stainless steel bolted rappel anchors were installed in their place in mid-July. read more

“There are no holds,” Kat said as she tried for the first moves of Easy Keyhole, a 5.2 in the Gunks. Kat was part of the Adaptive Climbers Group event hosted by Mountain Skills Climbing Guides on Saturday. She and seven other adaptive climbers climbed such routes as Black Fly, Rhododendron, Horseman, No Picnic, Dirty Chimney, and Easy Keyhole with the help of 22 volunteers from NYC, CT, Philly, or NJ and the Gunks. read more
